Non-ionic polyacrylamide (NPAM) is a water-soluble polymer flocculant used to support wastewater clarification and solid-liquid separation. Its neutral-charge chemistry may be evaluated where ionic interference is a concern. Final grade selection should be based on water chemistry, suspended solids, separation equipment and representative trial results.

Non-Ionic Polyacrylamide (NPAM) for Water Treatment

NPAM is a candidate for industrial wastewater clarification, process-water treatment and other solid-liquid separation steps where a neutral polymer is preferred. It is not a universal fit for every water or slurry, so testing should guide the final choice.

How NPAM is selected

  1. Characterize the process. Review suspended solids, pH, ionic conditions, particle behavior and the downstream separation equipment.

  2. Compare available grades. Check the current TDS or COA for molecular weight, solid content, particle size and other grade-specific values.

  3. Run representative trials. Compare solution preparation, mixing, dosing location and working dose with jar, bench or plant testing.

  4. Confirm operating documents. Follow the applicable TDS and SDS for preparation, handling, storage and site safety requirements.
